Bodegas Maset has achieved a new international success with its wine 1777 Reserva 2021 DO Penedès, which has been awarded a gold medal and the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at the European Red & Rosé Wine Contest, held on March 14 and 15, 2026 in Strasbourg.
This recognition is particularly significant, as it is the first edition of a competition created with the ambition of becoming a European benchmark for red and rosé wines.
An international debut
The competition was held alongside the renowned Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg, bringing together a total of 546 wines tasted by 60 international judges from 26 countries across both contests.
In the specific case of the European Red & Rosé Wine Contest, 59 wines were submitted, of which only 18 received awards (14 golds and 4 silvers), highlighting the high level of rigor of the competition. In this context, Maset’s 1777 Reserva 2021 not only obtained a gold medal, but also the Grand Jury Prize in the red wine category, the highest distinction of the competition, placing our winery alongside some of Europe’s most renowned producers.

A tribute to Mediterranean essence
The 1777 is a wine made from the Carignan variety, authentically expressing the Mediterranean character and the value of native grape varieties. This award recognizes not only the quality of the wine, but also a way of understanding viticulture: respectful of its origin, faithful to tradition, and open to new trends shaping the future of European wine.
A further step in Maset’s excellence
With this double recognition, Bodegas Maset consolidates its track record in international competitions and reaffirms its commitment to crafting wines with identity, quality, and emotional impact. The 1777 Reserva 2021 thus becomes one of the great wines of the year and a new source of pride for our winery.
